Properties of Trapezium


  • The areas S and T of some two opposite triangles of the four triangles formed by the diagonals satisfy the equation
\sqrt{K}=\sqrt{S}+\sqrt{T},
where K is the area of the quadrilateral.
  • The angle between a side and a diagonal is equal to the angle between the opposite side and the same diagonal.
  • The diagonals cut each other in mutually the same ratio (this ratio is the same as that between the lengths of the parallel sides).
  • The diagonals cut the quadrilateral into four triangles of which one opposite pair are similar.
  • The diagonals cut the quadrilateral into four triangles of which one opposite pair have equal areas.
  • The consecutive sides acbd and the diagonals pq satisfy the equation.
  • p^2+q^2=c^2+d^2+2ab.

Work Out the following Sums:

1. 60% of students in Class VIII are girls .Find the total number of students in school if 54 are boys.

2. A fruit seller has 1600 fruits. 20% of these are apples,35% of these are oranges and the rest are bananas.Find the number of Fruits of each kind.

3. Ritu purchased 1 trouser for Rs 450.She paid 5% sales tax. Find the bill amount.

4. A man sells 2 Sofa sets for Rs 10000 each.He gains 10% on one and losses 10% on another.Find is gain or loss percent in his total transaction.

5. Express 5:6 as percentage.

6. what is 12 % of Rs 15000

7. If CP = Rs 14000 and SP= Rs 10000. Find the Gain % / Loss %.

3. How long will it take Rs. 6000 to earn a simple interest of Rs. 7680 at 7%
            per annum?

4.Find the compound Interest on Rs,5000 at 8% p.a. for 2 years.

5. In an election conducted ,there were only 2 candidates. The winner polled 55% votes  and won by the margin of 8756 votes.
i. Find the total number of Votes.
ii. Find the number of votes polled by the winner.
iii. Find the number of Votes polled by the loser.
